Born in Blood

Born in Blood is a prequel novella to Sadie Kincaid’s Broken Bloodlines series, and it shifts the focus away from Ophelia’s storyline to tell Axl’s origin story instead. Set in Georgian England around 1800, it begins with Alastair Thorne, a reckless and self-destructive young man whose life changes when he is offered a terrible choice by Alexandros Drakos. From there, the book moves into the darker, more gothic side of the series’ mythology, showing how one of its key figures was shaped long before the main trilogy begins.

Readers can expect a short paranormal romance with a historical setting, a more intimate scope than the main novels, and a mood that leans moody, dangerous, and supernatural from the outset. Because it is framed as an origin story, the appeal seems to lie less in a large external plot than in character transformation, atmosphere, and the foundations it lays for the wider series.
