Her Deadly Touch

Detective Josie Quinn #12
Her Deadly Touch (2021)

Her Deadly Touch opens with Detective Josie Quinn returning to work after major trauma, only to be thrown straight into a case steeped in grief. She is searching for Krystal Duncan, a mother shattered by a devastating school bus crash that killed five children, but the search ends in horror when Krystal is found dead beside her daughter’s grave. From there, the novel takes on a darker, more ritualistic feel, with the scene suggesting a killer who wants the death to mean something more than murder alone. What gives the premise its pull is the emotional pressure already hanging over the case: loss, guilt, and mourning are everywhere, which makes the investigation feel especially raw and unsettling. Like the strongest Josie Quinn books, it blends procedural urgency with a personal, haunted atmosphere, as Josie tries to make sense of a crime that seems designed to wound long after the first tragedy.
